Planet ISKCON

Posted On: Fri, 2007-06-08 04:03 by sitapatiShare

Hi, and welcome! I'm Sita-pati das, maintainer of Planet ISKCON.

Planet ISKCON is the uncensored voice of the ISKCON community online.

It's an hourly-updated snapshot of the RSS feeds of ISKCON members worldwide.

The mission is to increase momentum in fulfilling the purposes of ISKCON through information sharing.

In order to be included a blog should talk about what the author is doing as well as what they are thinking.

The idea is to provide the readers with information on who they are hearing from, so that they have some context within which to understand what they say.

Appropriate Blogs for inclusion

If you are an active member of ISKCON and have a blog, then feel free to submit your blog feed for inclusion. I'll watch it for some time, and then add it if it's appropriate.

Comments Policy

You must allow comments on your blog to be included in the conversation. After a few experiences with different people and some discussion in the community the current guideline is the following:

At the minimum you should allow comments by registered users, and moderate those by anonymous users. You may choose to allow comments by anonymous users as well, but the main principle is that to participate in the Planet ISKCON conversation you should be prepared to listen as well as be heard.

If you don't want to give people a voice on your blog you are under no obligation to do so, but that cuts both ways. Participation in the conversation is completely voluntary.

Censorship on Planet ISKCON

Once a feed is added, there is no further filtering or editing. It's your voice - you are part of the community, and you're accountable to the community for what you say.

With freedom comes responsibility.

Getting dropped fro the Planet

Your feed will be dropped if you go too far off topic and don't talk about things related to what you do, what you think, and the mission objectives of ISKCON.

Your feed may also be dropped if you become disruptive or abusive, either of others, or of the Planet ISKCON system.

Submitting your feed / feedback

Email me to submit a blog feed, report an issue, or give some feedback:

Planet Iskcon feedback

Tracey (not verified)   |   Mon, 2009-03-23 16:45

Haribol Prabhu, I didn't really want to make this comment public, incase I cause offence. But I don't see another way to contact you. Please would you consider whether Satsvarup Das' blog is suitable for Planet Iskcon. It seems very much on the mental platform and I do not see how an hour by hour account of the mind of someone who is physically and mentally ill can benefit this audience. The poems are not Krishna Conscious and (for me anyway) do not inspire me in KC. His thoughts regarding listening to the voice of a women and being disturbed is something that he should seek private help for, not in a public forum. Quite honestly this whole blog feed is disturbing.

Maybe I am wrong, so please forgive me if I am making an offense.

Tracey

Haribol!

Ah, how about the email address in the post above? ;-) sitapati(at)worldsankirtan.net.

A number of devotees requested me to put it into the feed, and it doesn't contradict the editorial policy.

There are a number of feeds that I read infrequently. I usually just skip over them when I read the page. I'd suggest doing that if you are not inspired to give your time to reading a particular post.

There are posts on my blog because this is my blog and write posts on it. You can write comments, but not posts. If you want to write posts then you should get a blog. Go to www.blogspot.com or wordpress.com to set one up.

DISORIENTED

Garry R Smith   |   Mon, 2009-01-12 06:35

Sita-Pati Das,

May your daily routine be one of ease when this reaches you.

My name is Garry and my e-mail address is: Emeraldmemories1@gmail.com

I was at the New Govardhana Temple in Murwillumbah with my family just yesterday, and while there purchased the JESUS IN INDIA DVD from the Temple Shop, which doesn't work in our DVD Player, nor a friend's, and not in my computer. I have been trying to locate a way to send an e-mail to the devotee lady who owns/operates the shop and tell her. I admit being a novice when it comes to the internet and computers, and after an hour of fruitless endeavour, I thought this way may produce a result. If you could help, that would be lovely, and I apologize in advance if this is a nuisance to you.

For your interest, I live in Burleigh Heads with my wife and infant daughter, who is one of my 5 children. We are all Vegetarians. I love and believe in so much of the wisdom of what you and other devotees are doing, and so any time an opportunity arises, I encourage others to come to the New Govardhana Temple when I visit.

I was a Mormon for 20 years (if that proves interesting), but after becoming a Vegetarian through the challenging wisdom of Mr. Srila Prabhupada as taught to me by a devotee named Narada Muni some years ago, I couldn't reconcile the differences. Almost all Mormons thought I was deluded and ceased near-all association with me, which was a blessing in disguise. Peculiarly, I managed to bring quite a number of Mormons to the Sunday programme around that time - dozens in fact. So much has changed in my life for the better since then. I used to be a chef, now I'm a Psychological Astrologer. Once a devotee-friend visited me at a restuarant I worked in, and they allowed him to come into the kitchen. When I saw him enter, I said, "What are you doing in here?!" Because I realized a purity about him - and it was a second later that I knew I had to get out of that kind of work. After 20 years in Martial Arts, part of my work career became Karate Instructor - and I only mention that to say this: Some of my students were devotees, and of all the fellows sweating in the group from training, they were the ones who didn't stink (for want of a better term), and I attributed that to their meatless diet. Anyway . . . perhaps that little blurb will be amusing in places.

Thank you and God bless,

Garry.

JESUS IN INDIA Film

Filmmaking Team of JESUS IN INDIA (not verified)   |   Thu, 2009-03-12 22:19

Hi Garry,
The filmmaking team of JESUS IN INDIA was first of all surprised to hear that the DVD of JESUS IN INDIA was for sale in the temple shop of the New Govardhana Temple in India. If they are stocking the film we wonder where they are getting it from -- our website www.jesus-in-india-the-movie sells to consumers at list price, and the other distributor right now is New Leaf Distributing, and they only sell to retailers with whom they have an existing account.
You said the DVD did not work. We wondered whether it could have been a pirated copy?
We will be happy to send you a complimentary bona fide copy if you send us your mailing address - send us an email at info@jesus-in-india-the-movie.com We will even throw in a copy of Ed Martin's book JESUS IN INDIA: KING OF WISDOM.
We would also appreciate it (and will pay postage) if you would send us the copy you have that does not work - send to Yellow Hat Productions, Inc, 5190 Neil Road #430, Reno, Nevada 89502 USA.
Was the copy you bought in a shrink-wrapped DVD box? Did it have a card inside that listed the chapter headings and also had an ad on the other side of the car for the Edward T. Martin books and the CD soundtrack of the movie? If it did not have that card inside it was probably not a bona fide copy.
Thanks for your help with this. If the temple shop gets these from New Leaf and happened to get one defective copy, that's a relief. But you can understand why we would want to look into it further.
Thanks for your help - and we are sorry for your misfortune of having a DVD that did not work even in your laptop.

Investigation of Satyam Computer Services Ltd.

Investigation of Satyam Computer Services Ltd.
Dear devotees and friends of devotees,
Hare Krishna.
As an initiated devotee of Krishna within ISKCON and attorney-at-law in New York City, my law practice involves recouping the losses of investors who have invested in companies that have committed securities fraud. My law firm, the Rosen law Firm, P.A., is currently investigating the securities fraud committed by Satyam Computer Services Ltd., or "Satyam." Satyam's fraud is being called by some India's Enron. Satyam issued false and misleading information about its financial accounts, artificially inflating the amount of cash on its balance sheet by almost one billion U.S. dollars! Satyam's securities are traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
I would like for devotees who have invested in Satyam, or who know others who have purchased Satyam securities, to contact me in order that I may help you or your friends or family to recover your losses. We handle cases on a contingency basis (a small portion of the amount recovered), so that our clients do not pay any fees or expenses unless and until we succeed in recovering their funds.
It is wonderful when devotees can network with each other and assist each other in all aspects of their lifestyles. When I work for devotees, I give a significant portion of my income to ISKCON.
Please contact me via email at timbrown108@gmail.com or by telephone at (646... .

Haribol Prabhu,
Please can I kindly request you to remove my blog from this Iskcon feed?
This is my own personal blog and there are videos of my daughter there. Also, I am not an initiated member of Iskcon or even a devotee, I am just struggling for some sort of spiritual life. In addition I do not want to offend anyone with my nonsensical ramblings.

It might also be a nice idea to request permission from people before you add their journal to such public feeds.
