A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video podcast is worth a thousand blog posts...
Here's a video podcast from the deck of the Red Hill ashram, discussing the proposed annotations with our recent guest David Jorm.

It's taken three days for me to download 65 out of 98 megabytes of this podcast with my super-slow dialup connection (no broadband available), and now my download manager is telling me there's an "Internal server error." Argh!!!! Please publish these in smaller chunks in the future.

Thank you prabhus fro bringing many good points. This is the prove that you don't have to be "old" to be wise. I've linked you stuff on my blog. I hope we can alarm broad audience of devotees to have their say because this is ALARMING!

I reckon pod castes are
I reckon pod castes are great but you guys rave on a bit. Make them shorter and put dark techno music in the background. I reckon you should make less points but explain with more clarity and direction.

You mean you want a 2008
You mean you want a 2008 version of Sesame St for devotees?
;-)
Maybe this is all just a dream?
Thanks for posting/making this. I agree with you on the book annotation subject. I don't believe any good can come out of it, but, I'm not really sure what, "rank & file devotees" like myself can do about. It seems completely out of my jurisdiction. All I can say is that on a local level I would totally boycott the annotated books by not purchasing, reading, recommending or distributing them to anyone. Perhaps this is the first division to emerge the annotated and the un-annotated sankirtan devotees....maybe there will be a new category added to the Sankirtan score sheet to delinate whether the book was annotated or not? I don't know, I kind of hope that the time will come, when I will wake up and realize that resolution 311 was all just a bad dream.
I have one completely unrelated question for you...where can I find Planet ISKCON's mission statement ? I spent 10 minutes of futile digging, my guess is its blatantly obvious but, I'm just not seeing it.
Ok, thanks again for sharing your thoughtful outlook on this.

I think that this resolution
I think that this resolution marks a turning point in the maturation of the society. It will force the community to become more self aware. I think resolution 3.11 will awaken the giant.
Planet ISKCON mission statement.
It's the "Submit Blog | Feedback" link on the page. I'll update it and put a more visible link on the front page.

hey - don't look now but i think you just commented on what other people are doing or thinking.
Can I start commenting on the wacky things I see going on again?
Please?
Watching your podcast made me realize how much I miss commenting on what other people are doing and thinking.
I really wanted to weigh in on this spineless annotation topic but, on your advice, i kept it all to my little self.
Just give me the word and I'll unleash the Texas fury.
:)
No, this podcast is about
No, this podcast is about what I think. As a contributing member of the ISKCON community I have a right to a viewpoint on this matter.
Hey, when Krishna-kirti, Sita-pati and Ekendra all agree on something, you better watch out - there's some serious Texas trouble abrewin' ;-)
ISKCON News article should be ready today.
At least in the evil
At least in the evil democratic western social system when someone makes a decision that we don't like we can choose not to re-elect them to their leadership post.
In ISKCON we don't get that security. We are just supposed to be stupid compliant sheep who are amazed at the purported purity of those who make such decisions. Despite that there is ample evidence that many who have served on our decision making body have lacked that purity, we still risk being labeled as instigators or even good ol' fashioned 'demons' for expressing a different point of view.
Personally, I think its a really sad joke. I've moved on from being frustrated about it and try to just focus on my own little contribution and avoid the wierd stuff.
Maybe I should take up arms again?
Stuff like this makes me wonder where we are headed.
dude. seriously - you need
dude. seriously - you need to write an opinion piece for ISKCON News.
