Remixed demo
Submitted by sitapati on Mon, 2007-07-02 00:06I've hooked up the Sounds menu item at the top of my blog, and it now goes to the Sounds page, where I will link to all the aural goodness that I post here.
Here are the Woodford Folk Festival Tracks remixed:
- Jaya Radha Madhava, mp3, 4' 30", 6.3 MB
- Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya, mp3, 3' 40", 5 MB
- Sri Krishna Caitanya, mp3, 3' 27", 4.8 MB
This is the mix that we've submitted as our demo.
I played bass and guitar on all the tracks, harmonium and keyboard on Jaya Radha Madhava, and mrdanga on Sri Krishna Caitanya. Vraja Dham played shaker, mrdanga on Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya, and the dholki on Jaya Radha Madhava. Prem Yogi handled cartals, Rasika Seva sang and played harmonium, and we all sang chorus, along with Ram, Prabhu, and Prahlad who clapped.
This was a pretty rushed demo, with no rehearsals. The version of Jaya Radha Madhava that we did was spontaneous based around Vraj's dholki playing. We also didn't have all the musicians for the group, such Andy, who plays saxophone with us.
I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out considering it was a three day exercise - two hours of live recording, and then two days of polishing and mixing.

Fully Human, Fully Spiritual
Submitted by sitapati on Thu, 2007-05-17 05:03I gave the Bhagavatam class at the temple the other day, at short notice. Param Satya was scheduled to give it, but she is doing three hours of yoga a day demonstrating at a shopping complex near Atma, and needed extra rest.
I didn't have time to prepare so I just spoke about what I'm thinking about: "Human Life".
Listen to Madana Gopal das brahmacari change my state during the questions at the end.

Urban Missionary Podcast is back
Submitted by sitapati on Sun, 2007-02-18 07:49
This week I've restarted the Urban Missionary podcast, which has been in hiatus. I talk a bit about what I'm up to these days, and what I'm thinking, in the context of the books that I'm carrying around with me and reading from day to day.
The Red Hill Conversations Podcast team is taking a sabbatical this week to catch up on a few things. Both podcasts will continue to be published here.

First off, books:
And the new Hare Krishna video site, www.gouranga.tv:
And North Point Community Church, Andy Stanley's organisation.
Here's the mentioned quote from H.H. Hrdayananda Goswami:
Hridayananda Das Goswami thanked Tamohara Prabhu for this good presentation about an important program [ed: leadership training]. We train devotees to win debates in classes, but not to persuade people to become devotees, he said. Regarding gender separation, he acknowledged its benefits, but warned that in many parts of the world graduates will face an environment far from the ideals of gender separation. He suggested that we do not employ a culture that will not serve our leaders well in the field.
Sri Nandanandana's article: "Your Thoughts Create Your Future". It was on Dandavats.com, which is how I discovered it, published on Feb 14 according to Google, but it has been removed by the look of it. Not sure why...
